About the place
When it comes to communal areas we’re open all hours. For playing, watching good-sized TV screens, studying quietly, or chilling out with friends, we’re open round the clock. There is a state-of-the-art 45 seat cinema room, complete with a bar foyer. There is a large common area with Sky TV and lots of comfortable seating. We have a games room with a pool table, table football, TV and PlayStation access, a communal study space, complete with a large table and study booths, a large cafe area with seating, and a communal kitchen. You can also relax and enjoy the sun in the landscaped outdoor courtyard. Enjoy the use of a fully equipped GYM, completely FREE to use for all residents, open 24/7. We got plenty of storage racks for your bicycles.

Your booking can be cancelled for free if the Visa application has been denied.
A booking can be cancelled for free if you have failed to obtain the required qualifications to get into your university of choice.
Student Castle Cancellation Policy (England): Get in touch and tell us straight away. How much we can help will depend on the timing and the circumstances of your cancellation. 1) Once you have paid your holding deposit and you have been allocated a room, then should you decide to cancel then the holding deposit is non-refundable. 2) If you have paid the holding deposit and signed the license agreement then you will be held to the terms of the license until a replacement licensee is found. 3) If you rebook a room for a subsequent year and your deposit is carried forward, and then you decide to cancel this booking then the deposit will be withheld.
For 2021/22 academic year bookings, if you meet any of the conditions below, you will be able to cancel your booking and receive a full refund of your Holding Deposit and any paid rent payments:
No Visa No Pay: If you do not get your visa to come and study in the UK, you must send us the visa application rejection letter within 72 hours of receiving it. This policy is valid until 20 August 2021.
No Place No Pay: If you fail to gain the required qualifications and is not accepted into the University, you need to send us the university rejection letter, or proof that the exam results don’t meet the requirements of the university. You must send us the proof documents within 72 hours of receiving them. This policy is valid until 20 August 2021. Please send your request and the supporting official documents to the respective schemes email. Should you fail to provide the necessary information within 72 hours, your Holding Deposit will be retained as a cancellation fee. We reserve the right to withdraw the offer at any time.

From the airport
The nearest airport to Durham is Newcastle. A fast Metro service operates from Newcastle Airport to Newcastle Central Station. From here, you can continue your journey to Durham by rail. A taxi is also possible (around 30 mins).
From the bus station
The bus station is a 10-minute walk from Student Castle.
From the train station
The nearest train station to Student Castle is Durham. This is a 10-minute walk. Durham lies on the main London to Scotland East-coast train line and so enjoys frequent services from London (3 hours) in the South, Edinburgh (2 hours) and Newcastle (15 mins) in the North.

Most of our students pay for their entire stay in one easy upfront payment. However, it’s possible to pay in three installments if you have a UK guarantor – this is a person (not a company or government) who lives and works full time in the UK, is willing to submit to a credit check, and can commit to paying your rent if you fail to do so.
